Histories of Twelve Frequently Visited Shipwrecks of the Wilmington, NC, Area

As a section of the infamous "Graveyard of the Atlantic", the waters off of the mouth of the Cape Fear River and the the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina are the home to dozens of shipwrecks. Some are the product of wartime attacks or simple maritime accidents, where others are the efforts of the North Carolina Department of Marine Fisheries to increase the number of artificial reefs that benefit the area's marine life. Many of these wrecks are frequently visited by sport fisherman and SCUBA enthusiasts, thought their histories remain a mystery to many visitors.
